ATLANTA, GA, April 15, 2019— The Blue Dove Foundation announces the hiring of its new Executive Director, Gabby Leon Spatt.

Gabby became involved with The Blue Dove Foundation as a volunteer in May 2018 and quickly converted into a board member role assisting with program development and fundraising.  On April 1, Gabby transitioned from board member to Executive Director.

As Executive Director, Gabby will report to the Board of Directors and run the day to day activities of the Foundation developing a culture of inclusivity, empowerment, support and change.  Gabby will lead ongoing initiatives to attain The Blue Dove Foundation’s goal of being recognized as the community quarterback linking schools, synagogues, community centers, youth groups, and camps as a strong community partner and advocate in battling mental health and substance abuse challenges in our community.  Gabby said, “For me, my involvement is personal. I lost my younger sister at age 30 to an opioid overdose.  She is a perfect example of an individual who suffered silently and with herself.”

Gabby is originally from Coral Springs, Florida and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Non-profit Leadership from the University of Florida.  Gabby’s past professional experiences include roles at The Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, SPANX by Sara Blakely, Phi Mu Fraternity and Group Interactive Networks.  Gabby brings several years of volunteer leadership including as the Atlanta Co-Chair of American Jewish Committee’s ACCESS young professional board, current American Jewish Committee board member, Junior League of Atlanta member and a board member of the Coalition for Collegiate Women’s Leadership.  Gabby was recognized by the Atlanta Jewish Times as one of their 2017 40 under 40 honorees.

The Blue Dove Foundation’s mission is to educate, equip and ignite our Jewish community with tools to work together to understand, support and overcome the challenges presented by mental health and substance abuse. As a community and through Tikkun Olam, we will improve and save lives while eradicating the shame and stigma surrounding mental health and substance abuse in our global Jewish Community. The Blue Dove Foundation is starting in Atlanta with plans to expand across the United States and Canada quickly.  The Foundation believes in partnerships and is thankful for the existing relationships with HAMSA, Jeff’s Place, JF&CS and future partners that align with the mission.

If you would like more information about The Blue Dove Foundation please call Gabby Leon Spatt, Executive Director, at 404-490-2391, or email Gabby@thebluedovefoundation.org.
