A Poem for Mother Who Died by Suicide

Taylor Davis, Atlanta, GA

My mother was gentle and kind
She showed me that real love is blind
Her death left a hole in my heart
Her absence still rips me apart

The woman who gave to me birth
No longer here with me on Earth
My mother was torn from my life
And left me with sadness and strife

What’s left of her lies in the ground
I feel lost, never to be found
The past three years have been a blur
What am I to do without her?

This process has left me weary
Downtrodden and oh so teary
Mummy dearest, I still need you
So tell me, now what shall I do?

My mother, my mother . . . I miss you
