Event Video Recap
Event Information
Join us for a night of mental health and substance abuse awareness, education and dialogue through the lens of Hanukkah. Jewish community members will share their real-life stories, wisdom, and perspectives related to their personal journeys around mental health and substance abuse.
Nearly one in five Americans eighteen years and older experienced mental illness in 2018, according to a report by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. For a long time, many Jews refused to believe these problems exist in the Jewish community. Even today, the shame and stigma that persist keep people from speaking out and seeking — or offering — help. But the fact is, Jews are as likely as anyone else to be affected by mental illness and/or addiction, as our speakers will share. And they represent but a tiny fraction of the stories out there.
