Suicide has been part of my life since I was 11 years, when my grandfather, my best friend and hero, died by suicide. Almost twelve years later my girlfriend died by suicide. Since then I have lost childhood friends and neighbors to suicide.
In 1994 I decided to kill myself and kept a daily journal about what I was going through. I miraculously survived my attempt and got involved with the Samaritans of Cape Cod.
Over the years I wrote articles on the sadness of suicide, the suicide epidemic and suicide prevention and loss. These articles were published in the Cape Cod Times.
A few years ago I started my blog, fortheheartcries.blogspot.com – by first posting my journal and articles. Then I joined a few closed suicide prevention/loss sites on Facebook and posted short essays which I also posted on my blog.
Over these past few years, I have dedicated my life to preventing suicide and helping those who have lost a loved one to suicide.
