Talking About Pediatric Anxiety Disorders In the Frum Community

Dr. Kesner will be offering a Zoom group session for Jewish parents with children who are diagnosed with pediatric anxiety disorders. The group will take place on Thursday evenings from 8:00-9:15 beginning mid-February and will be a non-clinical support network for families to help each other in navigating treatment, relationships and well-being within their Jewish communities. Speakers

Dr. Rafi Kalman is a Senior Clinician at the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy. He has been treating anxiety disorders for 20 years using a CBT approach. While he specializes in the treatment of all anxiety disorders, his subspecialty is in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. In addition to his full-time clinical practice, he is a School Principal at a local Jewish Day School.

Dr. Marcia Kesner is a psychotherapist and researcher. She has maintained a successful private practice in Brooklyn, New York working with patients primarily in the Orthodox Jewish Community. Dr. Kesner holds licenses as a Mental Health Counselor and Professional Counselor and is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.

Rabbi Adam Jacobs was born and raised in New York and has lived in Boston and Jerusalem, where he received his rabbinic ordination. He completed his B.A. in music from Brandeis University and has a master’s of Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory. He is the father of a kid with pediatric anxiety disorder and would love to meet others who are having similar struggles. He also wants to help normalize these kinds of issues within the community.
